Abstract

商店街の衰退が顕著となって久しいが、今もなおも地域において存在感を発揮し、人的・物的な集積に貢献している商店街も少なくない。中には、従来は異業種であった観光業等と連携し、インバウンドの集客を通じて広域的な地域振興にまで繋げている事例も存在する。このように明暗大きく分かれる商店街の現状を踏まえ、本研究では商業集積統計および各種空間データを活用することで全国の商店街を可視化し、地域経済や人口動態に正の影響を与える商店街を特定する。さらに、人口減少下の日本社会において地域振興と人口減少抑制の、地方創生的な観点から望まれる商店街の属性を空間計量経済モデルにより明らかにする。これらの結果を踏まえ、今後の地域振興に向けて必要な施策を提言する。

Although the decline of shopping districts has been remarkable for a long time, there are still quite a few shopping districts that show their presence in the region and contribute to the accumulation of people and merchandises. In some cases, it has been linked to tourism, which was previously a different industry, and has led to regional promotion through inbound customers. This study uses commercial accumulation statistics and various spatial data to visualize shopping districts nationwide and identify those have a positive effect on regional economy and demographics. In addition, in a Japanese society with a declining population, we will clarify the attributes of shopping districts that are desirable from the viewpoint of regional revitalization using a spatial econometric models, and propose necessary measures for regional development in the future.
