Abstract In the present information age, the value and reliance on data to support urban policy decisions is immense. However, in the case of community-based disaster prevention planning, it is required that these data and simulation results (which often have scenario based limitations) are appropriately conveyed to the citizens and not just understood by the municipality officials. This research is focused on investigating appropriate methods of citizen oriented resource development which present the technical information of tsunami simulations and other damage analyses for the Toi district in Izu city. The requested data will be used for building damage analysis, and evacuation simulation using the analysis results, which will inform the decision making of the residents regarding the tsunami zoning in Izu as well as the evacuation planning for the region.
