Abstract コンビニエンスストア（CVS）は、今や高齢者の日常生活にとって必要不可欠なものとなっている。心身機能が低下し買い物や調理が困難になった高齢者にとって、CVSがあることで自立した在宅生活を維持できる事例が報告されている。また、CVSに出かけることにより外出機会が増加し健康維持につながることや、たとえ認知症になってもCVSの従業員の対応によって地域で見守られながら生活を維持できることも期待される。本研究では、地域高齢者への支援におけるCVSの活用に関するアクションリサーチの端緒として、（１）CVSが高齢者の居住継続に与える影響、（２）CVSの高齢者の見守り機能を定量的に把握するものである。
（１）に関しては、介護保険事業状況報告・介護保険レセプトデータを用いて、CVSの徒歩圏内に住む高齢者はそうでない高齢者に比べて、要介護認定および施設入所割合が異なるかを検証する。ある地域においてCVS徒歩圏内に住む高齢者の割合を算出するために、国勢調査メッシュ統計を用いる。
（２）に関しては、CVSにおける高齢者の保護・見守り活動についての調査データを用いて、CVSの特性及び立地によって保護・見守り活動の量・内容が異なるのかを検証する。分析として、各種メッシュ統計を用いてCVSの属性別商圏人口を割り出すとともに、CVSの立地特性を類型化（例：住宅地立地型，大規模事業所立地型など）する。Convenience stores (CVS) have become indispensable in daily life of the elderly. It has been reported that elderlies whose physical and mental functions have begun to decline find they can easily maintain a self-supporting life at home thanks for CVS, which results in an increase of mental and physical wellbeing. This study aims to quantitatively understand (1) the affect CVS’ have on the daily life of elderly, (2) ability of CVS to protect the elderly.
In regards to (1), by using data on a long-term care insurance business situation report and long-term care insurance fees, we verify whether the proportion of care certification and institutionalization are different between elderly who live within walking distance of CVS and elderly who do not. In order to calculate the proportion of elderly people who live within walking distance, census mesh statistics are used.
In regards to (2), by using the survey data of elderly who use CVS, we verify whether the amount and type of protection is different, depending on characteristics and location of CVS. We typify location characteristics of CVS (e.g., residential, large-scale establishments, and so on), as well as determining CVS attribute-based trade area population by using various mesh statistics.
