Abstract

東京近郊の住宅地には丘陵上に造られたものが数多く見られる。これらの地域では住宅地から商業集積地や駅までの移動で坂道を昇降する必要がある。一方，東京近郊の住宅地は今後急速に高齢化が進行することが指摘されている。住民の加齢による体力の低下や自動車運転能力の低下などにより，徒歩での目的地への移動が困難になることから，公共交通へのニーズが高まることも考えられる。それに対応するために，住民が主体的に公共交通を導入し，運営する事例が見られる。
本研究の目的はいかなる地域でコミュニティ交通が成立するのかについて，コミュニティの人口構成に着目した分析を行う。まず，東京近郊の住宅地が成立してきた1970年代から現在に至る各小地域の人口構成の変化のパターンを導出する。次に，この結果と現在コミュニティ交通が運営されている地域の関係を示す。さらに，コミュニティ交通が現状で運行されている地域特性を詳細に分析し，今後その萌芽が見られそうな地域を明らかにすることを目指す。
